Description

At CIF Construction Ltd., we are looking for a Concrete Pump Truck Operator in Prince George to work with us at job sites across Western Canada.

The Concrete Pump Truck Operator is responsible for safely operating, maintaining, and transporting concrete pump trucks to support a variety of heavy civil construction projects. This role plays a critical part in delivering concrete efficiently and accurately in diverse environments, including isolated and industrial worksites. As such, we are looking for someone with at least 3 years of experience in concrete pumping and a valid Certified Concrete Pump Operator Certification (CCPO). We also want to see a valid Class 1 or Class 3 manual driver’s license with an air brakes endorsement and a valid WHMIS certification.

Responsibilities for this role include driving and operating the concrete pump truck, controlling the boom arm and hose, setting up the pump truck at the job site, monitoring and adjusting flow, connecting hoses and lines to the truck, and planning and managing the route to the job site.

You will work closely with site supervisors, batch plant personnel, and concrete crews to ensure pours are completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards while upholding CIF Construction’s commitment to workmanship, safety, and reliability.

We are safety-conscious and require our Concrete Pump Truck Operator to conduct thorough pre-operation checks, clean and maintain the pump truck and hoses, and perform regular maintenance on the pumps, hoses, and other equipment. Regularly inspecting the equipment for safety hazards and reporting any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel or supervisors are also important responsibilities.

This position operates at active construction sites in rural locations throughout Western Canada on a rotational 14-days-on, 14-days-off schedule or a 14-days-on, 7-days-off schedule with 10–12-hour shifts, depending on the job site. The Concrete Pump Truck Operator has a $42.23–$50.99 per hour wage plus overtime pay.

This work requires travel to isolated job sites and the ability to live in camp accommodations for extended periods. Duties are performed outdoors in demanding environments with conditions that include rain, snow, extreme heat, and sub-zero temperatures. Duties

  • Driving and operating the concrete pump truck to deliver and pour concrete to specific locations on job sites.
  • Monitoring and adjusting the pump’s settings to ensure the correct flow rate, pressure, and mix consistency during the pumping process.
  • Controlling the boom arm and hose to accurately direct concrete to the desired area of the construction site.
  • Setting up the pump truck at the job site, ensuring proper positioning and stabilization of the truck.
  • Preparing the truck and equipment for operation by performing pre-operational checks, including fluid levels, pumps, hoses, and boom function.
  • Connecting hoses and lines to the truck, ensuring secure connections and proper alignment.
  • Monitoring the flow of concrete through the pump and hose to ensure proper delivery without blockages or issues.
  • Adjusting pumping pressure or flow rate to prevent issues such as pressure loss or splatter.
  • Communicating with crew members at the site to ensure accurate placement and quality of the poured concrete.
  • Cleaning and maintaining pump truck and hoses after each use, including flushing the system with water or other cleaning agents to prevent concrete buildup.
  • Performing regular maintenance on pumps, hoses, and other equipment to ensure optimal performance, including lubricating parts and checking for wear.
  • Reporting any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel or supervisors and assisting with troubleshooting minor problems.
  • Inspecting equipment regularly for safety hazards and addressing any issues before starting operation.
  • Working closely with site supervisors, laborers, and other crew members to coordinate concrete deliveries and ensure smooth operations.
  • Directing or assisting with the placement of concrete by positioning the boom and hoses in the correct spot, as requested by the crew on site.
  • Maintaining logbooks of equipment use, maintenance, and inspections for safety and compliance purposes.
  • Planning and managing the route to the job site, ensuring that the truck can access the location safely and efficiently.
  • Working and operating in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years’ related work experience in concrete pumping.
  • Valid Certified Concrete Pump Operator Certification (CCPO).
  • Valid Class 1 or Class 3 manual driver’s licence with an air brakes endorsement.
  • Equipment maintenance skills including oil changes and hose replacements.
  • Experience working on industrial projects is an asset.
  • Valid WHMIS certification.
  • Valid First Aid certificate is an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working safely.
