CIF Construction Ltd. is growing, and we’re looking for a Construction Estimator / Project Coordinator to join the team in our Prince George office. This is a great opportunity for an experienced construction professional who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, coordinating projects, and being involved from tender through construction. This role will suit someone who is organized, detail-oriented and comfortable taking ownership of their work while working closely with a team.

With 3–5 years of construction estimating experience, you’ll play an important role in supporting our industrial construction projects across Western Canada. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, field crews, subcontractors and suppliers to develop competitive and accurate estimates, review project requirements, coordinate pricing and help ensure projects are set up for success from the beginning. As projects move into construction, you’ll continue to support the team by helping coordinate materials, documentation, costs, schedules and changes.

Success in this role means becoming a trusted resource for the project team, someone who understands the details, identifies potential issues before they become problems, keeps information organized and follows through on commitments. You’ll help ensure our projects are accurately estimated, properly coordinated and positioned to be delivered safely, efficiently, on budget and to the high standards our clients expect from CIF Construction.

This position pays between $72,800 and $104,000 per year commensurate on experience.

Duties

  • Prepare detailed estimates and quantity takeoffs for industrial construction projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, tender documents and contract requirements.
  • Obtain, review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Develop accurate material, labour, equipment and subcontractor costs.
  • Prepare bid summaries and assist with competitive tender submissions.
  • Identify project requirements, potential risks, exclusions and opportunities during the estimating process.
  • Assist with project budgets, cost tracking and forecasting.
  • Support procurement and coordination of materials, equipment and subcontractors.
  • Assist with project scheduling, planning and coordination.
  • Prepare and maintain purchase orders, change orders, RFQs and project documentation.
  • Track project costs and assist with identifying potential cost variances.
  • Coordinate communication between Project Managers, field teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist with project reporting, documentation and closeout.
  • Provide general estimating and project coordination support as required.
  • Maintain organized and accurate project files and records.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to project planning and problem-solving.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of construction estimating experience.
  • Experience with industrial, civil, concrete or related construction is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labour requirements and project costs.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and contracts.
  • Experience completing quantity takeoffs and developing detailed cost estimates.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with estimating, project management or construction software is considered an asset.
  • Construction-related education, diploma, trade certification or equivalent industry experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.

Education

Post-secondary education in construction, engineering, business, project management or a related field is considered an asset, but is not required. We are looking for someone with strong mathematical and analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to understand and work with quantities, measurements, costs, drawings and specifications.
