At CIF Construction, we are looking for an Ironworker in Prince George to work with us at job sites across Western Canada.

No two days are the same, and we pride ourselves on cross-training our employees so they can continuously expand their skills and gain experience across multiple aspects of construction.

Responsibilities for this role include detailing and installing rebar, using a variety of tools, including shearlines, benders, metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, and acetylene torches. We would like to see candidates with experience using bending and shearing equipment and who are familiar with slabs, walls, columns, zones, and beams.

Other responsibilities include offloading, sorting, and preparing structural steel for erection, assisting with fabrication and concrete placement, and reading blueprints, cut sheets, placement sheets, and specifications.

For this role, we are looking for a Red Seal-certified Ironworker, Journeyperson Ironworker, or Registered Ironworker Apprentice. Safety is a priority for us, so because of the nature of this job, we also require valid Fall Protection, Confined Space, and WHMIS certifications. Telehandler, Elevated Work Platform, and Skid Steer certifications would be considered assets as would a valid Class 5 driver’s license.

This position operates at active construction sites in rural locations throughout Western Canada on a rotational 14-days-on, 14-days-off schedule or a 14-days-on, 7-days-off schedule with 10–12-hour shifts, depending on the job site. The Ironworker has a $33.14–$50.99 per hour wage, based on experience, plus overtime pay.

The work requires travel to isolated job sites and the ability to live in camp accommodations for extended periods. Duties are performed outdoors in demanding environments with conditions that include rain, snow, extreme heat, and sub-zero temperatures. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-driven, physically resilient, and ready to work where the job takes us.

Duties

  • Reading blueprints, cut sheets, placement sheets, and specifications to lay out work that includes calculating quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations.
  • Detailing rebar to required lengths, using shearlines, benders, metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, and acetylene torches.
  • Installing rebar and welded wire mesh.
  • Offloading, sorting, and preparing structural steel for erection.
  • Providing support with fabrication during projects.
  • Assisting concrete placement crews.
  • Performing physically demanding tasks that include lifting and moving structural steel/plates, reaching and extending into tight areas, and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Working and operating in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Ironworker Certification, Journeyperson Ironworker, or current Apprentice Registration.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working safely.
  • Valid Fall Protection, Confined Space, and WHMIS certification.
  • Valid Telehandler, Elevated Work Platform, and Skid Steer certifications are assets.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence is an asset.
  • Experience with industrial projects is an asset.
  • Experience operating bending and shearing equipment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with slabs, walls, columns, zones, and beams.
  • Experience working at isolated job sites and living in camp accommodations.

Education

We're looking for candidates who hold a Red Seal Ironworker certification, Journeyperson Ironworker Certificate, or current Apprentice Registration.
